Teacher Jack’s real name is Derrick Steven Pistorius. However, in Japan, the parents at his school could not pronounce the “rr” sound in his name. His boss, Principal DeGraw, insisted that he change his name to Teacher Jack because Derrick worked as Captain Jack Sparrow in Las Vegas, Nevada.

2023-2025 New Century English: Teacher Jack sometimes does work for New Century English as a volunteer. He participated in their summer school program each year that he was in Dalian, China. 2022-2023 Tsingtao Beach Bar at Xinghai Square: Teacher Jack’s job was to drink beer and attract customers to the bar. Teacher Jack was delighted to drink the great tasting Tsingtao all evening and all summer long. He did not mind working overtime. Sometimes he would dress as Captain Jack Sparrow to promote the bar.

2018-2021 Teacher Jack taught at this English Training School and was the top teacher at his branch in Zhongshan. He was instrumental in teaching other teachers how to teach by frequently posting his lessons on the school WeChat group. Teacher Jack also taught at a local middle school through TPR and also at a pharmaceutical company called Ferring Pharmaceuticals. Teacher Jack was beloved here and still gets the highest recommendations from this school which is still operating in Zhuhai, Guangdong. Although Teacher Jack’s branch in Zhongshan was forced to close due to changes in academic policy from Beijing, he still communicates regularly with the principal.

Teacher Jack took the entire Chinese staff shopping after giving them 200 RMB. He did this to alleviate any tensions between himself and staff members. 2019-2021 The Big Wheel Kindergarten- Teacher Jack was resposible for creating and teaching Disney English to this large kindergarten located in Zhongshan, China. ” I like this teaching job because my own son was my student.”

2018- Professional Gambler: Teacher Jack played Texas Hold’em for a living at the Venetian Casino in Macau. He was highly successful during the Spring Festival and other holidays, however, he struggled when the major holidays ended. This forced him to return to work and he found a fantastic job at TPR.
The Venitian Casino in Macau is the most beautiful in the world.
Teacher Jack sold his automobile in the USA at this time and now Teacher Jack prefers to use his bicycle and public transportation to reduce pollution.
The Ventetian Casino has the best poker room in Macau and it is also the largest casino in the world, being seven times larger than the one in Las Vegas.
The Venetian casino is so large that it has a river with gandola rides in it. Teacher Jack took his family there many times and to nearby Chimelong Aquarium. When in Macau, Teacher Jack always stays at Darling 1 massage shop where he sleeps or free.
ABC ENGLISH & STATE OWNED PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY

ABC ENGLISH in Beijing,China: Teacher Jack taught large classes and VIP classes at this school in Beijing. Teacher Jack played guitar here often and the students and staff loved it. Teacher Jack was selected to also teach at a state owned pharmaceutical company in Guamao, Beijing where he taught a class full of doctors. Teacher Jack loved this job, however, ABC English was slow to get his work visa and Teacher Jack was often asked to leave the building in the middle of class if the police were coming. Teacher Jack became frustrated at this company’s lack of urgency, so he moved to Zhuhai, China to play poker for a living. ” I never work in China without a proper work visa. All of my paperwork and credentials are approved by the China Embassy, notarized and apostilled. So, there is no excuse for a company to be slow at obtaining my work visa.”- Teacher Jack

Teacher Jack was the main attraction at the ABC English Halloween party. He helped organize it and made sure that all the beautiful Chinese teachers were in a sexy costume for the party after work.

Syncus Global Education Network in Beijing, China: Teacher Jack taught English, mathematics, and high school physics at this company. He was instrumental in getting the owners son, Alex Wang, into the American International School of Singapore by teaching him physics and preparing him with practice interviews. Teacher Jack would have stayed with this company but the owner, Mr. Wang, found much cheaper rent in East Beijing. He moved this company from Chongwenmen and the commute was simply too far for Teacher Jack who resided in West Beijing.
Teacher Jack (above) taught his girls to play Twister, a Milton-Bradley game. This game was fun and required his students to learn the names of body parts. When finished, Teacher Jack asked each student to tell the game’s instructions to the entire class in English. Teacher Jack played too !

FANGCAODI MIDDLE SCHOOL AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Through Syncus Global Education, Teacher Jack taught at Fangcaodi Middle school and Elementary School. Teacher Jack taught science to very large classes of students and prepared power point presentations for them. It was a lesson in classroom management for Teacher Jack and he learned quickly to not be nice.

DISNEY’S MAGIC ENGLISH IN BEIJING
Magic English in Beijing: Teacher Jack played his guitar often and taught English from middle school to the kindergarten level. He was responsible for runnng the American Day Program which meant that he taught the same kindergarteners all morning and afternoon. He would play guitar to put his kindergarteners to sleep in the afternoon. He would also wake them with song and help them get dressed sometimes. Teacher Jack spent his own money on Legos and other teaching tools for his classes. Teacher Jack spoke English with his students as they ate lunch together. He taught the older students how to sing American pop music by using his guitar. “Kindergarten is very hands-on. I didn’t mind putting on their shoes and socks. I didn’t mind picking them up and giving them a hug. I didn’t mind spending my own money on toys and games because ,in the end, it made a long day so much more enjoyable for everyone.”-Teacher Jack

OYAMA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL & Frank English School
Oyama International School in Japan: Teacher Jack taught English to children and adults in Oyama, Japan. The techniques were developed by Teacher Kay as part of her Master’s theses and then applied. The techniques included open and closed book repeating, conversation, phonics practice, and chanting, and supplementary material on weekends. Teacher Jack was given permission by his boss, Principal Frank, to leave Japan for China so that Teacher Jack could see his wife give birth.

Here Teacher Jack was literally floating in a sea of very beautiful and intelligent female Chinese teachers. Teacher Jack was beloved by all. The owner, Felix Aziz, who is now a multi-millionaire and possibly a billionaire begged Teacher Jack to stay for another contract, however, Teacher Jack respectfully declined having his eyes set on teaching in Japan and possibly having a baby with his new wife. Teacher Jack also wanted to rid himself of his agent who flew him in from Thailand and was taking a portion of his monthly salary. Everyone was upset that Teacher Jack left, but it was during this period that Teacher Jack and his new wife created their beautiful and handsome son on the romantic island of Koh Samet in Thailand. ” I loved China and teaching in China. I had a new wife and unlimited employment opportunities so when my wife asked me to create a baby, I agreed immediately. My son’s mind is Chinese but his spirit is Thai. Teacher Jack with Dr. Tyanne Deal were the essential teachers at Gateway Academy. This school had a 100% success rate and the tuition cost was enormous. Teacher Jack taught more than English, he taught American culture so that his students would thrive in their new American schools. He conducted practice interviews with his students so that they would be accepted into the school of their choice. He took his students to dinner followed by a show or movie, almost like a date, to prepare his students for the USA. Teacher Jack (above) took his student on a “date” arranged by the school. First, a dinner at a fancy restaurant where Teacher Jack taught her dinner conversation skills and how not to be shy. Next, a ballet at Beijing National Theater called ” Swan Lake”. This student flourished in the USA at her boarding school and is now working on her doctorate degree in the USA. I practiced with them for hours to build their confidence and overcome being shy. They had to impress and I knew it. Phaya Thai Elementary School in Bangok Thailand: At this school Teacher Jack taught mathematics to elementary school students in English. The staff here praised Teacher Jack as the best math teacher that they ever had. They were disappointed when he left Thailand to go to China. Teacher Jack taught equations of lines, geometric shapes, bar graphs, statistics and more. He also appeared as both Captain Jack Sparrow and Santa Claus on Christmas Day.

The boys also completed their three dimensional solids project. They had to calculate the volume of each shape in cubic mililiters and then calculate the volume of the entire robot by adding up all the volumes of each shape.
They absolutely loved Teacher Jack’s math classes and the staff loved Teacher Jack.

RAJAVINITBANGKHEN HIGH SCHOOL IN BANGKOK, THAILAND

When the principal at Phaya Thai Elementary School saw how professional Teacher Jack was at teaching mathematics, she immediately asked him to teach English at this high school on the weekends. Teacher Jack loved it and sought to teach English instead of math when he went to China.

Teacher Jack was the leader of the Foreign Teachers at this school and his job was to get the other teachers to do exactly what the Thai principal wanted no matter how absurd. This included raising the grades of certain students because of their family’s status in the Thai community, dancing at shows during festivals, and dressing as Santa Claus – all of which the foreign teachers absolutely hated, accept Teacher Jack.

NEW JERSEY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Atlantic City High School: Teacher Jack taught high school mathematics with subjects like Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 and Geometry for several years. He also was given the additional task of preparing foreign students to take the HSPA which gave Teacher Jack his first experience of teaching mathematics to students from other countries, something that he would repeat in Bangkok, Thailand. Teacher Jack was hired, however, with additional money granted by President Obama from his economic stimulus package and when this money ran out, so did Teacher Jack.
PROFESSIONAL GAMBLER IN ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY
Teacher Jack met the young Donald J. Trump (future US President) on the main casino floor of the Taj Mahal.

Both he and his wife began struggling to pay the bills and Trump went bankrupt, again, so Teacher Jack began working at Atlantic City High School as a guitar instructor but was paid as a substitute teacher. It was during this time that Teacher Jack founded his nine piece rhythm and blues band called “The Tailsnatchers”.
The Tailsnatchers were the first band to play at Kelly’s Corner Pub in Atlantic City. Pistol Pete, the owner of Pistol Pete’s in Absecon who has five DWI’s, claimed, ” The Tailsnatchers were the best band that I have ever seen.”Later, Teacher Jack became a full time math teacher at Atlantic City High School. He kept his campsite in the swamps so that he always had a place to go when he needed time alone or when he got into a fight with his spouse. He was back in the swamps often, until the Eastbound Strangler claimed his four victims.
